Sputnik[edit]

Sputnik News isn't a reliable source for content, particularly here and particularly for statements about "American spooks." It is a outlet wholly owned by the Russian state that is generally regarded as a Russian propaganda outlet (see here, here) that is known for spreading fake stories on occasion (see here, here ("Sputnik, state-funded Russian information services that mimic the style and tone of independent news organizations yet sometimes include false and misleading stories in their reports").
