This article seems to contradict itself re the 'success' or otherwise of this class of locomotives and cites 'popular opinion' in the assessment. Following his interview with the Standard 6 class designer R A Riddles, Col HCB Rogers states in his book "Transition from Steam" (Ian Allen ISBN 0 7110 1014 5) that "...Riddles believes that his Class 6 Pacific was a mistake, and that had he made it a 4-8-0 the extra adhesion would have provided a solution to traffic problems in Scotland". If the designer is saying this sort of thing then surely this would point toward a lack of success?

I believe also the statement on the building of a number of replicas of these locos is incorrect. If the source for this is the link to the Swanage railway article then this must have been misread as this states an aim of rebuilding one each of those Standard classes that are missing from the ranks of those preserved - including Class 6 No 72010 Hengist - unless anyone knows different?
