I was hoping I'd find the latitude / longitude of Badaling on wikipedia... ANyone knows them ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.253.87.130 (talkcontribs) 03:30, 24 December 2006

Meaning[edit]

From a quick look in the dictionary it seems like it might mean "eight distinguished ridges". Can anyone confirm? (and add to the article) ☸ Moilleadóir 06:42, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A guide there gave a rendition that makes sense: "eight reaches" has the sense of "on all sides" so it means surrounded by mountain ridges or secure on all sides. Colin McLarty (talk) 21:40, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Badaling Safari Park[edit]

I have removed the paragraph about the tiger mauling from the "fame" section. This article is putatively about a section of the Great Wall. Either: 1) The article should be expanded to include information about all sorts of surrounding tourist attractions, or 2) The tiger-mauling paragraph should be removed.

Obviously, I support option (2). If Badaling Safari Park is notable enough for Wikipedia, it should have its own page. Otherwise, this page reads as though Nixon was in danger of being mauled by a tiger while visiting the Great Wall. Doc Faustus (talk) 14:28, 9 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
