Not Shown On Map[edit]

The map and coordinates are not very useful. The coordinates seem to refer to the mouth of the creek, but I can only know that by looking at another map. Ballenger Creek is not even shown on this map. Why use the map when it doesn't really show anything? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gnuarm (talkcontribs) 17:12, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • When a single set of coordinates are shown, these are for the mouth of the creek, per WikiProject policy. See WP:RIVER#Geographical coordinates. Anyone is welcome to add coordinates to the article describing the source, major tributaries, etc. using the Geobox template.
  • There is no map shown in the article. Which map are you referring to? If you click on the coordinates link you get the GeoHack menu, which provides a list of various external mapping sites, e.g. Google Maps, Bing, TopoQuest, etc. Any of these sites will display a map showing the mouth of the creek, which may or may not be labeled.
  • Some map websites show tributary names, but usually only for larger streams & rivers. Ballenger Creek is labelled on the USGS topo map, which can be viewed through TopoQuest, MSR Maps, and other websites. The USGS maps tend to provide more labels for small streams.
