E-bank acquisition[edit]

Merge article with Banco de Oro[edit]

I'm proposing a merger between these two articles, due to the fact that both of them carry almost the same information, the only difference being this article referring to the organization before the merger. We could incorporate this article into a history section of the other article, or vice-versa, whichever is better. Handtell (talk) 12:41, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with this proposal and support the MERGE of the two articles. Originally (17:01, 24 June 2005), Banco de Oro was a redirect to Banco de Oro Universal Bank. Due to inconsistent editing the redirect (Banco de Oro) was revived as a separate article and is now being maintained as a brief article of the current entity known as BDO, while the original main article Banco de Oro Universal Bank is updated with information up to merger with Unibank only.
I suggest to incorporate new information about the surviving entity BDO from the Banco de Oro article into the original article and later decide on renaming the merged article to reflect the bank's current name

This merge proposal is LONG overdue. Merge is ongoing for the next few hours, merge tag will be deleted in the next few days, to allow for other editors' actions and feedback. UPDATE: the merge was effected last 2010 August 21, but one of the pages (Banco de Oro) was not redirected to Banco de Oro Universal Bank, although ALL "Banco de Oro" wiki articles have already been merged then. Please inform us through this talk page of any other "Banco de Oro" page not yet redirected to Banco de Oro Universal Bank. Thanks! —-— .:Seth_Nimbosa:. The merge should have been done in reverse. Banco de Oro Universal Bank (this article) should have been merged to Banco de Oro (the new article). --Sky Harbor (talk) 06:31, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes indeed it is known to the Philippine public as just "BDO". But it is vague to those outside the country. Hence the next common term for the bank "Banco de Oro" is imho much preferred. Not much from the public knows that the legal name of the company is "BDO Unibank, Inc."Hariboneagle927 (talk) 04:49, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
