About BSMRSTU[edit]

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) is a public university located in Gobra, Gopalganj. It was established in 2001 and named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.^[1] The Academic activities of the university started from 2011.It is one of the largest universities in Bangladesh based on student recruitment numbers each year. Every year, more than 3000 students enrolled in undergraduate programs among 33 departments and some other Ph.D. programs. In the undergraduate admission test, only about top 3% students can get admitted among the candidates.After establishing, within a few years it's acquired a lot of good reputation for the education system, research, and skill development.

Bangladesh was a province of Pakistan until 1971. After 1971 Bangladesh became the independent country. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the president. From the very beginning Sheikh Mujib tried to make Bangladesh as prosperous country. His birthplace is Gopalganj, a small district of Bangladesh. The people of Gopalganj had dream to make this town as ideal district for knowledge and technology. But after the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, no ruler of Bangladesh took care of this district because it was the birthplace of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. After long time his daughter Sheikh Hasina came to Bangladesh from London and following her father to make his dream a reality and the people of Gopalganj started new dream around Sheikh Hasina daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Gopalganj is proud of such a prominent leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was brilliant and charismatic leader of the people in Bangladesh. In 2009 Sheikh Hasina became the new prime minister of Bangladesh for the second time and declared the vision 2021 digital Bangladesh. So, it was very logical to launch a digital vision from the birthplace of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman which is Gopalganj. As a consequence the first digital research university has been launched in Gopalganj from 2011.

There are many universities in Bangladesh but all have the same vision, plan and philosophy whereas this new university aims to change the world to the better position.
