Regulations Concerning Minor Savings[edit]

I keep hearing stories of minors being burned by their deadbeat parents draining their savings accounts. I was trying to compile regulations by state on the subject, but it has been very difficult. For instance, Oklahoma does not even allow parents to be joint on the account. Georgia considers the minor an adult for purposes of a Minor Savings and allows them to be individual, joint with adult or even joint with another minor. Colorado has an exemption to the protection of minor status that allows a minor to open an individual account that is fairly restrictive. Other states require joint access or even custodial accounts that deny the minor direct access.

POV?[edit]

In copyediting this article, I found that it reads like a puff-piece for the U.S. banking industry. If the U.S. banking industry is so good, why are so many people suffering as a result of its actions? Comparisons with regulations in other countries would be welcome. Apart from the unreferenced lead (probably WP:OR), the article is purely descriptive and contains no comparisons or opinions one way or another. It doesn't even say whether the regulations work as intended. As I think about it, I have an idea of what you mean. It's the same problem I have with the Copyright article. It just ignores the fact that there are people who think copyright is totally broken (which is ironic in a copylefted encyclopedia). Does Causes of the financial crisis of 2007–2010 cover the perspectives you think ought to be here? Are they covered anywhere else?
