Comments this is a very nice article, easily passing GA standards, so a few additional comments which would brighten it up and put it in good standing should an even higher level of recognition be desirable.

  • I think four paras in the lead is slightly too much for an article of this size, three would be fine.
  • Should the "outer barrier" be "Outer Barrier" like our article (to which it's linked?)
    • Yes. The article was moved after I made the initial additions to this page back in January. epicgenius (talk) 01:20, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • "By the 1920s... In the 1920s..." Consecutive sentences in the lead, a little repetitive.
    • Fixed.
  • ""Bears' Island".[6][3][7] " citations in numerical order.
    • Done.
  • "Map" is hardly a useful caption when it's clearly a map, perhaps some context for what extent the map shows?
  • "which is now a peninsula, is now the" is now, is now... again, just a little repetitive.
    • Fixed.
  • "Around c. 1800," is the circa needed since the uncertainty is already given by "Around"
    • Fixed.
  • "oil or scraps.[33][31]" numerical order again.
  • "until the 1930s.[36][31] " ditto.
  • "as 17 families.[40][38] ", "that year.[41][38] ", "grease, and soap.[48][46]", "1,500 people.[30][7][52]", "district there.[67][51] ", "on the island.[75][65] ", "on the island.[57][65][52]", "of the island.[81][52] ", "to move out.[85][65][86]" again.
    • All fixed.
  • I'm not convinced we need to link running water.
    • Unlinked.
  • "high–tide mark" not sure this should be an en-dash.
    • Not sure where the en-dash came from. I use a Dell and it doesn't allow me to type en-dashes. epicgenius (talk) 01:20, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Barren Island also received a National Jewish Book Award " unreferenced, and followed by an odd apostrophe.
    • This seems to have been included a few days ago. I added a source. epicgenius (talk) 01:20, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Avoid SHOUTING in the ref titles, and some of the bibliography.
    • Fixed.
  • NY Daily News -> New York Daily News
    • Fixed.
  • Ref 90, why is National Book Award in italics?
    • I don't know. I changed the parameter to "publisher" to get rid of the italics. epicgenius (talk) 01:20, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That's it from me, nothing major at all. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:26, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Happy with the changes made and completely satisfied that this goes some way beyond the GA requirements, so passing now. Good work. The Rambling Man (talk) 12:27, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
