First paragraph[edit]

This first bit which explains the drug development process is very valuable to Wikipedia, however I think it might be more appropriate to move it to the Apotex article, because this is a biographical article and nearly as much time is spent explaining what Mr. Sherman's company does as is spent describing him. This is also done before even initiating the real biography. I think moving it there would help in expanding the Apotex article (which is really too small compared to this right now) and leave this for discussing Bernard Sherman himself. Since they are interlinked the information should sitll be easily accessible. Tyciol (talk) 01:36, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Police theory of murder-suicide[edit]

Newspapers have reported that an unnamed source has told them the police are working on a murder-suicide theory. Police have not confirmed this, so it's not necessary to add it to the article. ... discospinster talk 15:46, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, we walk a fine line here. A major news paper published that. The family responded and the Toronto Star published the murder-suicide angle too.Police investigating possible murder-suicide in deaths of billionaire and his wife ... The bodies of Barry Sherman and his wife Honey were found in their North York mansion just before noon Friday.
But yes, in an encyclopedia, we should not publish content until it is a proven fact. When the police confirm it. Peter K Burian (talk) 15:50, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Well it's a fact that an unnamed police source said this and the family holds other theories. The question is do we want to report this fact. -- GreenC 16:19, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In other words: It is a fact that there is a rumour of murder-suicide. We don't publish rumours. Peter K Burian (talk) 16:22, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Calling it a rumor is overstating. Journalists have a higher standard why they called it an unnamed police source to show it is more than a rumor. The reason it is unnamed is to protect the source which is standard journalism, not as an excuse to publish rumors. -- GreenC 16:41, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed that describing it as just a "rumour" is overly dismissive. We should summarise what is published in reliable sources. The possible murder-suicide is widely reported internationally in reliable sources. However, we should also seek to err on the side of caution for BLPs and those recently deceased (see WP:BLP). The current wording, "Police are investigating the deaths as 'suspicious' " seems not unreasonable. Edwardx (talk) 16:43, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
TPS Homicide is now officially involved:[1]sikander (talk) 00:32, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The police report cause of death by ligature strangulation. This is not death by hanging, which is a different type of strangulation (see strangulation). Have there been any reports in the press about this discrepancy? -- GreenC 16:33, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What about it? ... discospinster talk 02:16, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish Defense League ire[edit]

Sherman had been targeted by the JDL, amongst others, for not being as hardline as certain elements desire. South of the border, the FBI lists the JDL as a terrorist organisation; why is that not mentioned North of the border? This needs to be re-worked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 126.161.151.172 (talk) 13:37, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Teva Pharma takeover bid[edit]

There should have been documents made available as to the level of interest that Barry Sherman had taken in the Teva sale/purchase, which completed shortly after his untimely death. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 126.161.151.172 (talk) 13:40, 13 May 2018 (UTC) [1][reply]
