How does Bartleby license the copyrights of these reference works?[edit]

Presumably this is by agreeing to pay some percentage of its online-ad revenue to the copyright owner. But that is just my assumption. It would be very interesting if someone who knows for sure could add info on this to the article. --63.125.147.253 (talk) 17:33, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, let's be real[edit]

I added the Template:Advert to this page for a number of reasons -- I think it actually uses Barnes and Noble Education's word-for-word description of itself -- but now that I'm reviewing it, there's deeper problems than I thought. For instance, its date of founding is not, in fact, 2018, but rather (per the sources cited in previous versions of the page) it has existed in some form since the 1990s. While Barnes and Noble Education recently bought it out and has added links to its own content (as noted in the present version of this article, and on the now totally revamped page at bartleby.com), the rest of the site's text archives remains extant and its original welcome page remains up (bartleby.com/sv/welcome.html). It's a bit curious since Nq5215 (talk · contribs) appeared out of the ether to clear out the old page and rebrand bartleby as a "student success hub" -- I don't want to accuse them of paid editing or anything like that, but the page as it currently stands reads a lot like a B&N press release. Although, now that I think about it even more, a bit of work would make the whole thing even better -- restore its previous history, describe its acquisition by B&N, and there could be a link from the actual Barnes & Noble page (which currently lacks all mention of this site). Anyhow. Give me approx. 24 hours to think about this (unless whomever's reading this would like to go fix things themselves). RexSueciae (talk) 22:39, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Page Update - Remove Student Cheating[edit]

This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. The changes suggested removing content that is well-cited or where sources exist.

Specific text to be added or removed: remove "Student cheating

Bartleby's system Learn provides a question-and-answer service similar to that of Chegg. Students have been using this to "contract cheat". Some universities therefore explicitly forbid students from using Bartleby's Q&A service for contract cheating. "

Reason for the change: Bartleby has high standards in place to to prevent students from cheating, the purpose of the service is to enhance students learning and make it easier for them to understand assignments by providing them with additional learning tools and resources.

Not done: You need a citation to an independent (in other words, it may not be a reference to anything published by Bartleby), reliable source that supports the assertion that students actually do not use the service to cheat, not merely that they are instructed not to do so.
