Shiji[edit]

@CCHIPSS: I noticed that you just added a lot of info from Sima Qian's Shiji to the article. Your effort is greatly appreciated. However, please be aware that modern historians generally agree that Sima Qian's accounts are less reliable than those of the much earlier Zuo Zhuan, which were also far more detailed, and he invented a lot of the exploits of Sun Wu, who was not mentioned in earlier historical texts. I don't think we should rely too much on Sima Qian. -Zanhe (talk) 22:45, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps it is helpful to include Sima Qian's account and then qualify it with the modern historians' (sourced) consensus to explain why his account might be less reliable. _dk (talk) 02:33, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The thing is Sima Qian's account is very barebones compared with the Zuo Zhuan. It basically summarizes the Zuo Zhuan, while adding a bit of extra stuff about Sun Tzu and Wu Zixu, which is not considered trustworthy by most modern historians, although it's very influential. -Zanhe (talk) 21:05, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
