Sources[edit]

I was previously asked to provide a source for my edits. Most of the stuff I added (such as the Union casualty rates) comes from a book called "Civil War Generalship: The Art of Command", which among other things, includes a chapter on Cedar Mountain. 208.101.138.245 (talk) 20:54, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Citations from books usually include page numbers. Can you provide for each addition? Hal Jespersen (talk) 00:50, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Page 64 mentions Taliaferro's ignorance of Jackson's battle plan which was apparently only told to Winder and Ewell. Even A.P. Hill had been left in the dark. It should be noted that Hill's command was new to Jackson and not yet used to his ways (secrecy, strict discipline, forced marches, etc.) They had quite a bit of trouble adjusting and there was at least one incident during the Second Bull Run campaign where Jackson had Maxcy Gregg and all of his regimental commanders arrested. The point being that he didn't yet trust Hill enough to let him in on his plans.

Page 65 mentions that the Stonewall Brigade was overrun by Crawford before it could fire a shot.

Page 68 mentions the casualty figures (Prince and Geary lost 30 and 40 percent; the 20 and 30 percent I put in the article were off). 208.101.135.162 (talk) 04:50, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I think I have cleaned all of the citations, although I had to add a couple of additional books from my library. As I have said before, your changes would be made most efficiently if you included the citations parenthetically in conjunction with the text you are adding. I can help you format these additions correctly. Hal Jespersen (talk) 15:16, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Map dysfunctional[edit]

The Sketch of the Battle of Cedar Run is practically unreadable. Most of the text is very difficult to read and the image itself is not at all clear. i.e.The lines that (attempt to) depict troop movement are almost useless. Image should be upgraded or removed. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 19:29, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
