Dimbos vs Dinboz[edit]

The name of this article has been moved from Dimbos to Dinboz. Moving the name of an article without consulting the creator may be permitted. But it is not polite. The name Dinboz is meaninful in Turkish whereas Dimbos is not. But my source İnalcık's book gives the name as Dimbos. Since the book is in Turkish I now add an English online source (p 13 of the pdf source). In the sources the name Dinboz among others, has also been given as an alternative. But the main name is Dimbos and I'm going to restore the name. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 10:03, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think Constantine's behavior was contrary to etiquette. But we don't have to get permission of creator to change titles. Please read Wikipedia:Ownership of articles. Because, unfortunately I witnessed this your belief caused many original researchs and your original titltes such as Yenice Meeting, Treaty of Shkodër, Ili River Treaty etc.... • Reply to above remark:I believe the creators must be invited to discussions about the name moves. In past, many times I was invited to discussions and had my say. (You can remember that I had proposed to move the name Smýrna to İzmir in two articles created by you.But I didn't move the names without your consent.) In this case, the move was made without a notice and I reverted it. I have no personal reason to prefer Dimbos other than my source. (Halik İnalcık) As for your other remarks; Yenice Meeting refers to place where the meeting was held. For Treaty of Shkodër, I explained that the name Scutari is also a former name of metropolitan district Üsküdar and it is better to use a name which would not crete confusion. The article Ilı river treaty was not created by me. It was created by Barefact. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 07:30, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Özür dilerim for Ili Treaty (acturally the author used this term, but we can find this term only in one book, and this is also one of the alternative names of Treaty of Saint Petersburg (1881), Yi Li Treaty, I-li Treaty....). If you have reliable sources (in English language), you can change titles including Smyrna to İzmir in accordance with rules of Wikipedia. You don't have to get my permission. As long as I understand, you mean Greek landing at Smyrna & Turkish advance on Smyrna, at least I'll complete latter till Zafer Bayramı. You can change if you find appropriate sourced common names, you can change them. But Wikipedia:Article titles, Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources etc. are considerably clear, so we can change Tenedos to Bozcaada, but it's difficult to change Imbros to Gökçeada.
