    • TG 42.1, Capt. Ralph W. Christie in tender Griffin (Capt. S. D. Jupp)
Subdiv 53 Lt. Cdr. Elmer E. Yeomans

However, only the four boats you mention actually got to sea during the battle. [User:Hawkeye7|Hawkeye7]] (talk) 08:36, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Need the first name or initial for "Brigadier Morris", commander of the Port Moresby garrison.
    • You mean Major General Basil Moorehouse Morris, DSO? I can given you a more detailed OOB of the force at Port Moresby, but it didn't really play any part in the battle...

  • Need names of the two US Navy reconnaisance squadrons assigned to Tangier.

  • The duplicate footnotes need combining.
  • In order to be eligible for Featured List consideration, according to the criteria here, the information in the list needs to be placed in tables. I don't have the patience to do this at this time.

I think that's about it. Cla68 (talk) 04:21, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A few extra things which could be added are:
  • The commands the RAAF units were under (I suspect that they reported to North-Eastern Area Command or USAAF commands)
  • A more detailed OOB of the South Seas force so that it's consistent with the level of detail for the Port Moresby garrison
It also seems appropriate to remove the 35th Pursuit Group - Sydney is a very long way from the Coral Sea and much of the Australian military was concentrated around Sydney and Brisbane at the time, so if it needs to be included then most of the Australian military needs to be included as well! I removed the 35th Pursuit Group as suggested and will work on the other two items when I return to this article at a later time. Thank you for the reassessment. Cla68 (talk) 07:34, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I added the submarine and VP information and the Morison cite. Thank you for gathering that information. Still working on Nick-D's suggestions. Cla68 (talk) 23:56, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
