Copyright examination[edit]

I'm unsure if the lyrics to the song are in the public domain or not. --Cherry blossom tree 23:13, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The copyright for the lyrics expired in 2005 (year of death, 1935, + 70 years). According to #Copyright-expired works and #National anthems in WP:L&P, you may quote the lyrics in full.  VodkaJazz / talk  16:03, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The original lyrics seem fine per above. However, the modern/current lyrics (as stated in the article and supported by cites) appear to still be in copyright ("McBride rewrote the lyrics for the 1989 version"). I've removed them. DMacks (talk) 02:15, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The modern lyrics are a part of the public Ohio Revised Code, and therefore have no copyright designation, and are freely available online, even on web sites about Ohio history [1]. Mugregg (talk) 16:19, 21 February 2017 (UTC)Mugregg[reply]
