Untitled[edit]

Both this and the new caledonian barrier reef say they are the second largest in the world. Which is? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.86.59.209 (talk) 11:28, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I keep having to change this myself... Belize's Reef is the second longest-- in the world. But some people automatically equate that to second *largest*. That is where the mix-up keeps coming from. It is in language semantics.

Belize Barrier ReefBelize barrier reef — I propose a move to eliminate the large B and R so as to show that it is a barrier reef from Belize, and not a given name to a regular reef —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.245.64.171 11:58, August 11, 2009 (UTC)

  • Oppose. It is used as a given or proper name, therefore it is appropriately capitalized. -- P 1 9 9 • TALK 12:56, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per P199 again. Vsmith (talk) 16:15, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • The article supports the view that this is a proper name, so the article is in the correct location.

  • Oppose. Most of the sources support the claim that it's a proper name: [5], [6], [7], [8], etc. Jafeluv (talk) 09:07, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
