Have removed the phrase "newly built" from the description of the Palace of Art, because the Glasgow City Council - Bellahouston Page says the building is left over from the 1938 Empire Exhibition, and video evidence here seems to corroborate it. Insipid 22:54, 29 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It's the "Palace of Arts Centre for Sports Excellence" that's newly built, but the rather unwieldy name might have led to confusion. I'll leave it be as the phrase dates the article unnecessarily. Stx 18:02, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you're saying and do agree (as you said, it dates the article); but based on that glasgow.gov.uk link (and seeing the building now and pictures then) I'm not convinced they're different buildings. It may house new "functionality", but I think it's the same structure. Insipid 00:05, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Now that I've had a look into it, I'm fairly sure that my assumption was mistaken. The "newly built" phrase comes from an earlier edit by the article originator, and I had assumed it was an extension to the Palace of Arts from the Empire Exhibition as I've not lived in the area for a while. This doesn't seem to be the case at all on further investigation. Cheers! Stx 12:15, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I see. I hated to sound so petty, but I really wanted my first not-totally-trivial Wikipedia edit to be on solid ground. :P Cheers! Insipid 18:13, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
