Untitled[edit]

I would like to add an image of Ben Mills to this page. I have been given permission by the person from SonyBMG responsible for both the Official website and the Official MySpace page to use the profile image currently displayed on the Official MySpace, however this has come purely in the form of a personal message. Before I upload the image, I wanted to make sure that it's all done in the correct manner so that the image isn't later deleted. Any guidance here would be appreciated. Many thanks. Have they given permission for it to be used on Wikipedia or are they releasing it into the public domain or something else? — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 18:31, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was told I could post the image on this page. The image has now been updated as Mills recently had a photo-shoot to promote the album and I have permission to use the updated one. This is a direct quote: "Yes that's fine about the pic. Ben's got his photo shoot this week so I will send you some new pics then and you can replace them." Benmillsonline 08:16, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If all they've said is that the image can be used on Wikipedia, then the image in fact cannot be used. Content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it (not just Wikipedia). You will have to request that the copyright holder make the image available under a free license. Please read WP:COPYREQ and WP:ERP. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 16:16, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt that will happen unfortunately. Good job I checked first, eh? Thanks. Benmillsonline 00:23, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it is :) I think the best thing to do would be for a Wikipedia user to take their own picture of Ben Mills, or see if there is one on flickr. If there is, you can contact the person who took it to see if they will make it available under a free licence. That's what I did with Image:Leona Lewis2.jpg. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 00:58, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice. We do actually have quite a few pictures of our own and access to those taken by some of our members, but I thought it would be better to have a 'professionally taken' image. I'll check out flickr and see if they have anything. Benmillsonline 10:12, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why not use one of your own images? — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 14:29, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Mainly because I wanted to use one that looked semi-professional and preferably where he looked all clean cut and polished! The recent ones we have were from a gig in a club - not exactly the look I was after! Somebody has suggested to me that now his album cover design has been released that we can use that. Is this the case? I know it was done for Journey South last year. Benmillsonline 22:56, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The album cover can only be used to illustrate an article about the album, so you'd still need to use another image. Surely one of your images must be good enough to use... The image of Shayne Ward isn't great, yours can't be any worse! — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 23:06, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm! See what you mean! Yeah, I think one of our own will do fine. Thanks. Benmillsonline 11:22, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome, and good luck :) — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 11:37, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Beside You" Release Date[edit]

It has been speculated and confirmed by a Sony BMG representitive that the single will no longer be released in neither physical or download format. Until it is actually officially stated on their website, is there anything that can be done in the way of changing the article?? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Debbie33 (talkcontribs).

"Speculated" and "confirmed" contradict each other. If it's been confirmed that it won't be released as a single, then we should remove it. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:20, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've had confirmation from SonyBMG that this single is NOT going to be released, though to my knowledge nothing has been publicly stated as yet. That said, HMV now show this single as 'deleted' and there is no mention of Beside You being released as a single on the Official Website. They refer to it there merely as an 'album track'. Given it's less than a week from the original release date, if it were going to be released, it would be publicised as such. Benmillsonline 21:35, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I was talking chronologically but obviously you have trouble understanding written English. It was speculated first by fans, then confirmed by an official Sony BMG representitive that the song "Beside You" will not be released in neither physical or download format. (clarified) I was only trying to help update the article, no need to take a sarcastic tone. Is it really necessary for you to have a pop at people all the time. Wouldn't it be so much easier to just help find a compromise with what I said rather than feeling the need to correct my grammar? You are here to help right? Debbie33 21:51, 27 February 2007 (UTC)Debbie33[reply]
First of all, no personal attacks and assume good faith please. Secondly, nobody here has taken a sarcastic tone, taken a pop at you or corrected your grammar. It just seemed like you meant the Sony BMG representitive both speculated and confirmed that the single won't be relesed. Thank you for clarifying. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 22:13, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BBC Newsround have reviewed "Beside You" today ([1]), giving a release date of March 12. — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 15:57, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And I got an official email that mentions a video for "Beside You" but not a single release so I guess you guys were right and it's not being released (at least not at this time). — AnemoneProjectors (talk) 18:29, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to add to that - I haven't seen anything anywhere about "Love Waits For Me" being released as a single, let alone that it will be in May. As there appears to be nothing 'official' about this, surely that should be removed? Benmillsonline 14:43, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Citation Help Needed[edit]

Can somebody please help me out. I edited the Personal Information on the Ben Mills page yesterday to add that Ben is now married. I added it because I know it to be true - Ben had a personal announcement about the engagement added to his official website and myspace page in April, stating that they would be marrying in July. He also had a rather long 'post marriage' message published on his website, along with a number of wedding photos so nobody can deny it never happened! However, from what I've read this is not classed as a credible source for a citation. There is an article from a local newspaper on said newspaper's website, published in August, which briefly mentions that he married the previous month. Would this be ok? Saz249 (talk) 13:05, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that should be fine. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 13:35, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great! Ok. Now the question is how?! This is the link: http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentish_gazette/news/2009/august/21/x_factor.aspx Saz249 (talk) 14:50, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'll do it for you if you like. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 15:38, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks much. Is there a 'how to' for future reference? As in an idiot's guide?! Saz249 (talk) 16:15, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The page Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners might help. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 16:48, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mills' Engagement To Siobhan Hewlett[edit]

A citation for this was provided, however the article referenced (http://www.nowmagazine.co.uk/celebrity-news/231596/ben-mills-i-was-hooked-on-cocaine/1/) does not state that Mills and Miss Hewlett were engaged. As it appears this engagement was merely speculation, should it not be removed? Saz249 (talk) 09:57, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I agree it should be removed unless we can find a definite source that says they were engaged. That source could be used to talk about his drug use, as none of that is referenced. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 12:01, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of You[edit]

According to the page, Picture of You reached Gold status in album sales in the UK; however, a search of the BPI site fails to confirm any certified awards, not even silver, for either the album or Ben Mills. Can this fact be verified? Egdcltd (talk) 14:56, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was verified by BPI in 2013. If you search now it is showing gold status.
