Info/Expansion[edit]

Any information would be greatly appreciated to help expand this article. -User:Vessels404, 3rd September, 2007 He was not "Benjamin Smoke" until the movie came out. He was just Benjamin. Benjamin Smoke should be the headline for an article about the movie, the headline on his article should just say Benjamin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.155.131.250 (talk) 06:50, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

could ask Glen Thrasher; he was Ben's Roommate and friend back in "the day". He's got a blogspot. Ben sang in my band Blade Emotion and I thank you for mentioning it. Smibbo (talk) 14:33, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article Title[edit]

please change the article title to Benjamin, not Benjamin Smoke — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.192.50.125 (talkcontribs)

Why? Calabe1992 01:56, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Because he did not go by Benjamin Smoke; that was just the title of the Jem Cohen documentary about him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.192.50.125 (talk) 03:42, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please change the article title to Benjamin, not Benjamin Smoke. The latter is merely the title of an article, not his name. @Aspects and Treetopz: Support move to 'Benjamin (musician)' - from the references it seems Dickerson was better known as Benjamin, not 'Benjamin Smoke' which is the name of the documentary. Jonpatterns (talk) 20:49, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I only made two edits to this article ten years ago, one of which was to add Smoke to the infobox and lead since the article was named that and it should have been consistent throughout the article. I have no opinion on whether the article should be moved, but since the three IPs that wanted it moved seven to eight years ago was likely the same person, the move could be controversial, and there is currently a Benjamin (singer) about another singer, so a Wikipedia:Requested moves should be started. Aspects (talk) 23:28, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I also have no opinion on this issue, since I don't know the history of the artist's name. However, I agree that the move may cause confusion, since "Benjamin" is a generic name, and there is already a page for Benjamin_(singer). Thanks for reaching out! I'll leave it for now as there is no strong opinion. Another possible naming could be 'Benjamin (Atlantan musician)'. Jonpatterns (talk) 12:32, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It should be renamed to just Benjamin, possibly Benjamin (Atlanta musician). He did not go by Benjamin Smoke. This would be like calling Bono "Bono U2." https://www.newsweek.com/movie-review-benjamin-smoke-159065 https://www.ifccenter.com/films/remembering-noah-cowan-benjamin-smoke/ Boaststimemockscumber (talk) 18:47, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
