Old talk[edit]

Again, this is both a Russian and American geography stub due to its disputed nature.

It is true that State Department Watch is not an authoritative source. However, links on their site provide some of the background the Alaskan legislature went on when it voted for the 'they're ours' resolution and therefore the keeping the site seemed conducive to a neutral viewpoint on the subject.CharlesRobertCountofNesselrode 13:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

: If the state of Alaska passed a resolution asserting a claim, that seems official enough to mention. It needs a link to a state government website of course. How about putting a section on the history of the disputed claim on De Long Islands?

I agree, it's fine to mention the resolution. It should be linked from somewhere other than State Department Watch, if possible. If some of the links from State Department Watch are useful, then they can be linked directly. Please note, however, that the resolution was an expression of the opinion of the legislature at that time, and is neither binding, nor necessarily representative of the position of the State of Alaska. There's an Alaska Supreme Court ruling in particular that finds that none of these islands has ever been part of Alaska. So feel free to describe the motion, but please don't give it undue weight. --Reuben 17:00, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
