Merge to Beretta Cx4 Storm[edit]

The project guidelines suggests merging articles on firearms that are variations of each other. Wikipedia:WikiProject_Firearms#Variants. Either firearm could be the main one. The Mx4 is perhaps the more significant weapon, but the Cx4 article gets more visits. Mx4 Cx4 Any opinions? Rezin (talk) 00:56, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'd lean toward the Cx4 being the main one. The Cx4 gets more Google hits, more Wiki views, and just generally attracts more attention than the Mx4 (unsurprising, since India's the only major adopter of it). The MX4 should be the main article as it IS the platform with full capabilities. The platform wasn't designed primarily for the civilian version obviously. None are. Therefore, the CX4 Storm should just be under the subcategory "Variants" of the MX4 Storm page, just like ALL other military weapons with a civilian counterpart. --Supermahilo (User talk:Supermahilo|talk]]) 18:41, 22 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Contrary to your assumption that the semi-automatic version was an afterthought, the Cx4 precedes the Mx4. While Beretta does offer the select-fire Mx4, I wouldn't go so far as to assume that the select-fire version was the primary version. I would like to see a reference for your assertion that the platform wasn't designed primarily for the civilian version. These should stay as seperate articles, or if anything, the Mx4 should be a section of the Cx4 page due to the fact that the Cx4 precedes the Mx4...unless someone can find a reference stating the Mx4 was the primary design configuration. 68.10.143.89 (talk) 08:40, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Either way one slices it, the two articles should be merged since the only differences are barrel length and selective fire capabilities. The H&K 416 contains information for the MR556. Given that the articles are not huge, unlike the respective articles for the M4 and AR15, combining the two should be no problem.
