Fair use rationale for Image:LogosBestWestern.gif[edit]

Image:LogosBestWestern.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

BetacommandBot 09:15, 7 November 2007 (UTC) I think there should be some mention of their security breach issues in the uk. It was reported in a Glasglow newspaper recently that several customer's personal info had been compromised. I feel this deserves mentioning —Preceding unsigned comment added by Greenkayaker88 (talkcontribs) 17:07, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

removed section[edit]

moved out the following section, as it is unclear what it adds to the article, doesn't really relate to the rest of the article and is not neutral in this context. re-add if it can be integrated better. --Lexor|Talk 18:27, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Asian Indian Members of Best Western[edit]

Asian Indian mostly Gujarati Patel form a significant percentage of overall Best Western Members. In an interview with Hotel Magazine Hotel Vikas David Kong - CEO of Best Western observed that: "A large number of our members in North America are Asian Indian. The Asian Indian community has a strong dedication to family, and their hotels are often family businesses that pass from one generation to the next. This results in decades of cumulative operational expertise, deep roots in the local community, and a superior level of customer care." [1]

Logo Question[edit]

From the article:

Best Western's "Gold Crown" logo was introduced in 1964 and would continue with a few minor revisions over the next 30 years until it was replaced by the current blue and yellow logo in 1994.

This is right next to a picture showing a Best western logo supposedly from 1962 - With a gold Crown clearly visible.

Which of these dates is correct? 93.97.134.235 (talk) 23:23, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Number of employees[edit]

How on Earth can BW have fewer employees than hotels? 23:29, 12 July 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.196.175.131 (talk)

I would assume that refers to the company and not including the individual co-operative members, although admittedly it is very misleading. The whole point in WP is that anyone can edit it, so do some research and get stuck in there!RaseaC (talk) 22:52, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

SSG Staples Incident[edit]

On August 8, 2012, stories began to circulate about the mistreatment of a wheelchair-bound Iraq War veteran at the Monahans, TX Best Western. This, combined with what was perceived as a poor corporate response, led to calls for a boycott of Best Western by people associated with the United States Military.

This incident http://www.cbs7kosa.com/news/details.asp?ID=36586 appears to have ended with the worker in question (who was employed by an individual hotel, not the chain itself) being sacked, per http://www.oaoa.com/news/western-92139-best-mocking.html so, unless any lasting change (such as Staff Sgt. Chad Staples proposal http://www.oaoa.com/news/hotels-92311-taken-veteran.html that hotels ensure all handicap-accessible rooms are on the bottom floor and hold those rooms for disabled guests) is implemented, this bit of WP:NEWS will likely soon be forgotten. I'm removing it from the article. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 17:39, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
