Request move back to F.C.[edit]

I don't believe anon users can move pages, but someone who can should undo the move to SC. The Geocities fan page may refer to a "soccer club", but the Boston Globe in 1925 article refers to "Bethlehem Steel F. C." and the National Soccer Hall of Fame page refers to "Bethlehem Steel Football Club". Those seem a tad more authoritative than a modern fan page. Hell, if you move an article, at least edit the article accordingly: the moved page still doesn't say "soccer club" anywhere in it. --76.121.3.11 (talk) 18:29, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 27 October 2015[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved to Bethlehem Steel F.C. (1907–30) per WP:DATERANGE, USL article moved to base location. While John makes a reasonable point about consistency, no one else has commented on that aspect and hence there is no consensus to change the status quo – therefore the old team will retain "F.C." while the new one will retain "FC". No prejudice against a future discussion on that topic. TheBigJagielka, Jkudlick, Fenix down and AF4JM, I'm pinging you to please make sure that all the incoming links get fixed after this move. Jenks24 (talk) 14:03, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

– The original club has not been active since 1930. The newly formed team shouldn't need USL in parentheses as it's the only active club with that name. The changes would be inline with the system used for Vancouver Whitecaps. TheBigJagielka (talk) 21:01, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Concur to maintain consistency in article titles. — Jkudlick tcs 12:36, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - seems sensible to me. Fenix down (talk) 13:58, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Concur (mostly) - I would think that both articles would be the same, either FC or F.C., I think it's silly for them to be different. Other than that I concur.--John, AF4JM (talk) 11:52, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 14 January 2020[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

Bethlehem Steel F.C. (1907–30) Bethlehem Steel F.C. (1907–1930) This is a partial revert of a WP:RM/TR, the original article title was Bethlehem Steel F.C. (1907–30).(edit 12:33, 14 January 2020 (UTC) revert done in RM/TR) Despite Bethlehem Steel F.C. has renamed to Philadelphia Union II, there is no prove "Bethlehem Steel F.C. (1907–1930)" is the primary topic instead, per WP:Primarytopic and MOS:DATERANGE. --Matthew hk (talk) 06:31, 14 January 2020 (UTC) Relisting. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 13:24, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. Matthew hk (talk) 06:38, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Additional note:, the redirect Bethlehem Steel FC currently not cleaned and pointed to Philadelphia Union II by context. Thus it is very very not a good condition that "FC" redirect to Philadelphia Union II but F.C. point to "Bethlehem Steel F.C. (1907–1930)". Matthew hk (talk) 06:42, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Redirect also fixed to pre-bold change for Bethlehem Steel FC and Bethlehem Steel F.C. Matthew hk (talk) 12:42, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:Other stuff exists. Your example, Pacific FC and Pacific F.C. is the prefect sample for something need to be disambiguated. Matthew hk (talk) 14:38, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, ignore that then. The ideal title for the USL team is Philadelphia Union II. The ideal title for the 1907 team is Bethlehem Steel F.C. Why include unnecessary disambiguation? BLAIXX 17:02, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Matthew hk and GiantSnowman: have you given this any more thought, I think we should try again to reach consensus. BLAIXX 01:07, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I stand by my suggestion. GiantSnowman 18:56, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
