Is this page REALLY necessary? Superruss 11:08, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

well, yes. betty, along with her husband, were a major force in the mass marketing of books in the twentieth century. thanks to her work, in part, we live in a world with easier access to the written word than at any other time in human history. in addition, her work was innovative. she and her husband were book packagers, and had progressive ideas about publishing that are still influencing the field. she is of course less notable than her husband, but deserves her own article. it could be easily expanded. Beside the footer links:

Frederik Pohl covered the Ballantines in his blog:

"(Part 2, the story of Betty Ballantine, will be with you in this very same blog shortly.)" — it appears that Part 2 did not happen[1]

P.S. Ballantine Books published Pohl's autobiography in 1979, several years after the departure of Ian and Betty Ballantine.

"The full interview, with biographical profile, is published in the November 2002 issue of Locus Magazine."

E.G. BB says she and Ian set up Penguin USA with her father's $500 wedding gift.

Dead or alive?[edit]

The infobox says that she died in the US (with no date or other information), but the rest of the article is written as if she is still alive. A quick web search reveals a lot of dead Betty Ballantines, but not one that I can quickly identify as this one. Clarification needed.
