The French wikipedia page on which this article was based has sections for the 19th, 20th and 21st century translations. This English page needs a lot more additions to bring it up to date. DFH (talk) 08:05, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The Jerusalem Bible didn't appear until the 1950s. So in the first half of the 20th century, was there a Bible translation which was the de facto standard used throughout France (at least by Catholics) - in the same way that the Authorized Version was dominant in Britain? Or were there a variety of competing translations? Is there a canonical or traditional form of words in which famous passages are quoted? For example, if a French person wanted to say "let there be light" or "let he that is without sin cast the first stone", would they quote a particular famous/traditional translation? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.180.11.34 (talk) 16:58, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
