Pre FLC[edit]

General
  • No image in lead? A logo, image of trophy, etc.?
Lead
  • 'The awards for first given in 1991 following the conference's first football season. ' -- 'for' -> were
  • 'The award recipients having included Heisman Trophy winners, NFL first-round draft picks, and NFL All-Star selections.' - No need for the
  • 'The Miami Hurricanes have been the most successful team through the school's tenure with the conference from 1991 to 2004, winning six awards for offensive players, seven for defense, four for special teams, three for Rookie of the Year, and Coach of the Year six times.' -> The Miami Hurricanes have been the most successful team through the school's tenure with the conference (1991 to 2004), winning six awards for offensive players, seven for defense, four for special teams, three for rookies, and six for coaches. [there needs to be consistency]
  • 'Frank Beamer of Virginia Tech and Dennis Erickson of Miami each are three-time Coach of the Year.' - I'm contemplating whether this should be Coaches of the Year?
  • The lead should state the first and most recent recipients.
List
  • 'There have been three ties, in 1996, 2001, and 2002, and a three-way tie in 2001.' --> There have been three ties: in 1996, 2001, 2002, and a three-way tie in 2001.
  • 'Of the 23 winners, 14 have been quarterbacks, while five have been running backs, three wide receivers, and one tight end. ' -> Of the 23 winners, there have been 14 quarterbacks, five running backs, three wide receivers, and one tight end player.
  • 'Eight seniors have been awarded, six juniors, eight sophomores, and Michael Vick the only freshman.' -> Eight seniors, six juniors, eight sophomores, and Michael Vick, the only freshman, have been awarded.
  • 'His Big East records included single-season receiving yards (1,595) and single-season TD catches (22).[3]' - What about his NCAA records?
  • In addition to the cross-symbol, the key should have YYYY in italics since thats how it is in the key.
  • '13 of the recipients have been seniors, six juniors, and George Selvie the only sophomore.' -> 13 seniors, six juniors, and George Selvie, the only sophomore, have been recipients of the award.
  • 'The first award in 1991 was a tie between Darrin Smith, a Miami linebacker, and George Rooks, defensive lineman from Syracuse.' -- Add a before 'defensive'
  • 'Like Offensive Player of the Year, Miami has won the most defensive awards as well with seven.' -- Comma before 'with'
  • 'Syracuse and Virginia Tech have each won three. Temple, a member from 1991 to 2004, won its only conference award with Dan Klecko in 2002.' -- 1)Unlink the colleges, you've linked them earlier and its not really needed anymore 2)The note about Temple being a member from 91 to 04 should be mentioned earlier.
  • 'Pittsburgh took the longest of the original 1991 members to win, first winning with H.B. Blades in 2006.' -> Pittsburgh, one of the original 1991 members, won its first award in 2006 with H.B. Blades, the longest a team has ever taken to win the award.
  • Same comments about the key apply here.
  • 'The Special Teams Player of the Year award is given to the player voted best on special teams.' -- Add as the before 'on'
  • 'Andy Lee, a Pittsburgh punter, is the only player to receive the award more than once, having done so in 2002 and 2003.' -- No need for the link to the school.
  • 'There have been 20 recipients with ties in 2002 and 2003. ' -- Comma before 'with'
  • 'Ten of the players have been seniors, seven juniors, and three sophomores.' --> Same thing applies here with other similar sentences I noted above.
  • 'Three placekickers have won the award, mostly recently Virginia Tech's Shayne Graham in 1999.' -- 1)Placekicker wasn't originally stated as a position which an award can be given for 2)'mostly' -> most
  • 'Todd Sauerbrun was the first punter to win when he was awarded as a unanimous selection in 1994.' --> Todd Sauerbrun was the first punter to win after he was awarded an unanimous selection in 1994.
  • 'National Football League Pro Bowler Marvin Harrison won as a Syracuse returner in 1995' --> 1)Well he wasn't a Pro Bowler during this time, so its not best to have that here 2)If you use National Football League (NFL) earlier, no need to link and spell out the entire name again.
  • Same thing applies here about the key.
  • 'Michael Vick in 1999 and Larry Fitzgerald in 2002 both also won Offensive Player of the Year, Vick doing so the same season.' -> Michael Vick in 1999 and Larry Fitzgerald in 2002 both also won Offensive Player of the Year, with Vick doing so in the same season.
  • This section (rookie) can be expanded like the above sections (prose wise).
  • 'Dennis Erickson won the first two awards in 1991 and 1992 after 12–0 and 11–0 season, respectively' -- 'season' -> seasons
  • 'Terry Shea of Rutgers is the only winner after a losing season,[7] Walt Harris in 1997 was 6–6.' -- add while before Walt Harris
  • This section can also be expanded.
  • Remove one of the images from the coaches, it runs on past its section limits.
  • Overall: Good work, just a lot of prose issues, but once they are fixed it should have a fair chance at FLC.--Truco 01:37, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
