Copy editing questions[edit]

Hello @Wilafa: I had some questions about your recent edits:

  • I had changed the plural of units to lower case such as "Hardin, Tyler, western Jasper and southeast Polk counties" rather than "Counties". My understanding is that when talking about plurals of proper names, that the descriptor is lower case. E.g. "The Missouri and Mississippi rivers", not "Rivers". That being said, I don't feel strongly about it and if we want to go with upper case, I'll go through and make it consistently capped if you'd prefer.
  • You'd changed some "–" (en dashes) to "-" (hyphen-minuses). I'd chosen the en dashes based on MOS:DATERANGE. Does that make sense to you?
  • Why capitalize Baygall?

Thanks, SchreiberBike | ⌨  23:26, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SchreiberBike. Thank you for your edits and input. You are probably correct on all three points. I think the capitalized baygall was just a typo on my part. I think of "county" as part of a proper name but, if it should be lower case in plural usage I will defer to you and keep that in mind in the future. On the dashes and hyphens, if I have a dash on my keyboard I don't know where it is or how to use it. I will defer to you.
