What rebellion?[edit]

This is a very odd article. It sets out the planning for the rebellion and the aftermath, but says absolutely nothing about what actually happened to constitute a rebellion. Planning one would have been treason anyway, but surely something did occur on the ground?Sbishop (talk) 09:05, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I created a new section on the rebellion itself and copied a short paragraph from Francis Bigod into it, but it remains a very unbalanced and rather unclear article Housecarl (talk) 21:24, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The fundamental problem is this 'rebellion' was really a continuation of the Pilgrimage of Grace. It doesn't make sense without reading that article first, and the aftermath/suppression sections are near duplications of each other. I propose merging Bigod's rebellion into the relevant section of Pilgrimage of Grace. Modest Genius talk 17:15, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think that would be the most satisfactory way ahead. Sbishop (talk) 19:40, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I see a Template:merge to tag was applied to the top of this article. I have taken the liberty of adding the Template:merge from tag to the top of the suggested target article. I have also created and linked the merge discussion. Since a successful discussion would eliminate this page, it's appropriate we discuss the merge at the target talk page: Talk:Pilgrimage of Grace#Proposed merge of Bigod's rebellion into this page. @BusterD: I had already placed a {{merge from|section=yes}} tag at Pilgrimage of Grace#Suppression. Modest Genius talk 14:14, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What about merging to Francis Bigod; it seems that's what he's noted for. Manannan67 (talk) 05:08, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose; the consequence after the Pilgrimage of Grace warrant a summary in that article, but having notable rebellions discussed separately seems warranted. So, viewing Pilgrimage of Grace as a precursor, with Bigod's rebellion as a daughter article, seems to appropriate fulfill WP:SUMMARY style and works for readers. Closing, given the uncontested object with stale discussion. Klbrain (talk) 11:56, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
