Re: Changes made from Bild-Zeitung to Bild:

The paper's name was changed in the 90s to Bild. On the one hand, to shorten the title, on the other to make clear that it differed from regular newspapers.

Axel Springer, who had created "BILD" in 1952, met with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev in 1958 and allegedly tried to convince him to agree to an immediate reunification of Germany, but Khrushchev turned him down. Springer then vowed to attack the Soviets and anyone he suspected of being sympathetic to them, namely the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), the German Communist Party (DKP), etc., with his most powerful manipulation tool - "BILD". Bild's nearest English-language stylistic and journalistic equivalent is often considered to be the British national newspaper The Sun—the second highest selling European tabloid newspaper—with which it shares a degree of rivalry. <- not thrue. Also in the general population, the Bild is notorious for their lurid headlines . There is even an old and very commonly used phrase to the newspaper: "Metzger fiel in den Fleischwolf! Bild sprach zuerst mit der gebratenen Frikadelle!" (Literally: "Butcher fell into a Meat Grinder! Picture spoke first with the fried Burger!") A newer version is: "Mord im Fahrradschlauch!! Bild stoppte den Täter im Ventil!" (Literally: "Homicide in Bicycle Inner Tube !! Picture stopped the Culprit in the Valve!")

BILD ZEITUNG[edit]

Die BILD ist sicher nicht mehr rechtspopulistisch seitdem sie sich für die Merkelsche Asylpolitik stark macht. Die Behauptung sie sei sexistisch ist Blödsinn. BILD, das mieseste Altpapierblatt für 7,5 Mrd Leser(?)

Mein Vater las dieses Blut-Blatt ab und zu, (bis 1964), wenn er von der Nachtschicht kam. Mit Entsetzen stelle ich fest, dass sowas immer noch existiert.

Statistics Presserat[edit]

Size contradiction[edit]

We have:

Lede: Bild is tabloid in style but broadsheet in size.
'History' section: Bild is published in tabloid format.

Paper comparison[edit]

It states that Bild is the best selling European newspaper, but then compares it with the Sun, the second best selling European tabloid newspaper.
