Bill Adler[edit]

There's a notice at the top of the entry noting that the references includes bare URLs. That's no longer true. I think the notice at the top of the entry should be removed.

Most of the citations after and including #15 have bare URL's. This article is on my list, but so are a dozens of others.  :- ) DCS 22:27, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please show me what a proper citation for #15 would look like. Thanks. Saramoulton (talk) 18:35, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've read the wikipedia page describing what is a bare URL. As I peruse the references in the Bill Adler entry, I see no bare URLs. Accordingly, I still think the notice at the top of the entry -- which says that the references contain bare URLs -- should be removed. Saramoulton (talk) 22:04, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I have a lot of talk pages to watch. You can always ask on my talk page. Basically a bare URL is anything starting with http:// or www.  :- ) Don 02:07, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Remedying issues[edit]

I appreciate that the subject and principal author of the article is concerned about the tags that have been placed on it and in lieu of page blanking (which isn't likely to stand) I am undertaking to pare the article down to its essentials. So far I have focused on more summary descriptions, and on removing material that is one or two layers removed from the subject (e.g. a review of a book he authored should stay while commentary about CDs produced by a company he founded come out). I am doing this somewhat quickly and accordingly might have missed a couple, or got one or two backwards, so I invite other editors to help out as they can. The article still needs more work but this is a start. JohnInDC (talk) 01:43, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Don't be embarrassed by a few tags. They will eventually get resolved, and this article is very good compared to many. I'd like to fix up the bare URL's on your page, I'm good at that, but I have a few dozen other pages ahead of yours.  :- ) Don 02:12, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have gotten the citation templates in place and found links to a few of the articles and reviews. The article was given a copy edit and has much better sourcing than many articles of its type. I removed the red links as none of them had more than three "what links here" occurrences and thus there's not much potential for articles being created for any of them. So I took the liberty of removing the entire tag farm. If anyone feels any of the tags are stil justified, please feel free to re-add them. There's a great add-on for Firefox called Cite4Wiki that will put websites into citation templates. It does the bulk of the work, but there's always a certain amount of human input required, so be sure to review each citation and tweek as required. -- Dianna (talk) 03:26, 17 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Who the Heck is this Guy?[edit]

Bill Adler, author of "The Kennedy Wit," "The Reagan Wit" and a dozen other books: is he still alive? Why doesn't he have an entry? Why no disambiguation page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.174.104.9 (talk) 21:51, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
