Improving the article[edit]

This may or may not be enough. I, however am quite pleased at how I fixed the article from what it originally was. I think there should be enough information to at least let the article live now.

Publication status[edit]

Umm, sorry, but what is the current publication status of this manga? I checked the author's profile, and it just said 2006. Not 2006-ongoing, just 2006. Does that really mean that chapter 24 was the last chapter? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.206.110.180 (talk) 08:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's correct: Chapter 24 was the last chapter, and the 4-volume series has been completed. —Lowellian (reply) 09:28, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Manga Sanctuary. Bitter Virgin volume 1, 13 novembre 2009:

Kei Kusunoki inform us that it's the his first love story, the previous ones being more horror or comedy oriented. And for a first try, it's a masterful stroke. Covering dire subjects, Bitter Virgin is a deeply moving title. With great [1], the author delivers his heroine terrible secrets and shows us those events consequences on the young girl daily life with any excess of style. Daisuke's reaction and his behavior are also depicted with much acuteness. The title possesses a heavy mood sometime alleviated by very well distilled traits of comedy. But the drama is not always far way and the character of Kazuki makes us fear the worst for our two heroes... The drawing is of rather good quality with a Shojo influence. [...]
Bitter Virgin is a series where the dramatic destiny of the its main feminine character is moving and deeply touching. All in [2], the title covers difficult subjects and the fellow-up reserve its pack of emotions. A very good first volume and a very good suprise.

Manga Sanctuary. Bitter Virgin volume 2, 7 February 2010:

In this Bitter Virgin second volume, Kei Kusunoki shows us the feelings evolution of the young Hinako toward Daisuke, the only boy which she manages to consider differently from others. The Hinako's past is also revealed with more details during a new experience that should have deserved a more trying depiction for the victim... On the Kazuki character, its the high-school girl stereotype ready to do anything to make a boy her man... even giving herself to him without difficulty. Despite few snags, Bitter Virgin possesses the small plus that makes the reading interested and which prevents us to get unhooked. Difficult to tell what awaits us even if we have high suspicion that Daisuke & Hinako will end up together...But we only ask to be surprised.

After the excellent surprise of the first volume, this second one fellow up in the story telling quality even if the effect dropped down a bit. So a good surprise, that only ask to be confirmed in the 3rd and 4th scheduled volumes.

Animeland. Bitter Virgin vol. 1, Nicolas Penedo, 8 October 2009:

This is a superbe new title: despite an a bit light drawing, Bitter Virgin impose itself as a passioning title. Without miserabilism and with intelligencen the comics shows Daisuke's affective torments: from the moment he learns Hinako's secret, he doesn't cease to think about her and doesn't know anyone how to behave toward her. On her side, reassure by his story with Kazuki, Hinako accept to be his friend. And the victim befriend the flirty boy. A surprising case handled with emotion and intelligence. This title has a strong shojo feeling making it readable for both boys & girls.

Animeland. Bitter Virgin vol. 2, Nicolas Penedo, 28 October 2009:

A remarkable volume, even better written than the previous which reveals to be touching and passionating. We love the Daisuke's pudor, Hinoko's cracks and the way those two characters conceal their felling mutually.

Here, near everything goes through Suwa. Through malaise he feels to Hinako, the questions he asks himself to try to approach her without rushing her on what she had lived, and the Hinako's way to perceive him, the whole, despite some awkwardness and stereotypes, rings right and touches us without having the author forcing, overdoing it. Kei Kusunoki offers a narration full of pudor, avoids to fall into something too heavy by distilling here and there some notes of comedy, and the story gets quickly a bitter sweet mood that suits it wonderfully.

Drawing wise, it stays simple. Very shojo inspirited, the whole is endowed with simples sets and an uneven chara design. So, some characters lack charisma while some others are clearly well done. However, we quickly get used to those flaws and we notice that the art style suits the story pretty well.

For a first love story, Kei Kusunoki handles it rather well, even better than its previous works. This Bitter Virgin first volume set easily itself apart from others romances by the dire subjects covered but the whole rings right and reveals itself touching, so much that we are in hurry to read the fellow up of this love story with reeks of drama and atypical.

Even more touching thanks to a well done flashback, this second volume is a hit and continues to develop the feelings of the star pairing/couple. Remain the hilarious Kazuki whom we have to difficulty to discern the usefulness. Real blot in this series universe or a character that has yet to reveal all its interest?
