From my reading on the subject, Geyer was there at Ingolstadt. According to Engels (and another source, the author of whom I forget, but upon whose account Engels based his), Geyer was with Black Company when it was surrounded outside Ingolstadt, then led their breakout and defense at Ingolstadt, then led a third of Black Company out of the fallen castle, only to be surrounded again in nearby woodlands, and barely escape with his life. Can anyone clarify? The details of his proceeding betrayal and death are, to my knowledge, undisputed. Ahuitzotl 22:19, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Haufen[edit]

The article says: the word "Haufen" means "heap" in German.

That's true, but it also means "bunch" or "bunch of people". So, "Schwarzer Haufen" means "black bunch". 71.131.201.17 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 08:52, 21 November 2008 (UTC).[reply]

'Haufen' also reffers to a group of combatants without a regular military unit (i mean things like sqad/platoon etc.) and to be fluctuating in numberArano (talk) 03:14, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The best translation for "Haufen" is probably "band", for "Black Band" (one of the many). ASchudak (talk) 13:09, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
