Distance[edit]

It appears that there are two conflicting distances reported for this galaxy: 17 Mly and 17 Mly. Ed Sanville (talk) 05:54, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reference[edit]

We need a reference for the oppositely rotating sections. WilliamKF 22:26, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This galaxy is in my long term plans for overhauling the galaxy entries in Wikipedia. I know several references on the counterrotation in NGC 4826, and I can add something later on this. However, I would probably want to rewrite the whole article, which I am not yet prepared to do. GeorgeJBendo 23:07, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Reference for "Sleeping Beauty" designation[edit]

You can find a reference for the "Sleeping Beauty" designation at http://www.astr.ua.edu/gifimages/m64.html

Article Title[edit]

I recommend that this article be retitled "Messier 64", which is the galaxy's name. Silly nicknames are ambiguous and may apply to more than one object. One would not entitle an article about New York City "The Big Apple", or an article about Richard Nixon "Tricky Dick". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.40.3.69 (talk) 18:57, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WP:COMMONNAME applies here. Praemonitus (talk) 17:41, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
