Five Corners[edit]

In 1915, when the Five Corners name was proposed, the intersection was what is now Brady Lake Road, 59, Hoover, and Wall St. Hoover Road was originally the northern end of what is now Lakewood Road. Sometime after the current Norfolk Southern line was built, the end of Lakewood Road was rerouted and the intersection was moved a bit west before that bridge was closed later in the 20th century. The "abandoned" part of Lakewood Road (between modern SR 59 and the railroad) became Hoover Road. A 1937 aerial shows that reconfiguration in place by then (prior to the construction of Menough Road); 1931, 1924, 1900, and 1874 maps show the original layout of Lakewood Road and the original configuration of the Five Corners, which had all five roads meeting at the same intersection. --JonRidinger (talk) 19:06, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
