Grammar[edit]

Hi Samiollah1357, what specifically in the last version was not grammatically correct? Is there also a reason why all other changes were undone? Mellk (talk) 20:37, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Mellk, a disruptive editor redacted the "The" in the first line and also modified the Russian translations to be inconsistent and anachronistic in this and a few other articles. I had not intended to revert your edit, and am happy to see that you have restored it. Samiollah1357 (talk) 00:59, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting back to me. It looks like there is still some disagreement about whether to include "the" or not.[1] I do not remember if there was a centralized discussion about this but most of the other articles about the governorates have omitted "the" for a while. I'll see if there was any past discussion, if not then maybe it is worth starting a discussion such as on Talk:Governorate (Russia). Thanks. Mellk (talk) 17:13, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand what exactly is incorrect. The problem is that many articles about governorates of the Russian Empire lack consistency – some use “the”, some don't; in some articles they're called a province, and in others an administrative division. There just needs to be a unified style for all of them.
By the way, the translations were correct. Wiz KDDI (talk) 16:10, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It might be a good idea to start a discussion at Talk:Governorate (Russia) to have a centralized discussion about this, so everyone can agree on wording. Mellk (talk) 16:14, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
