Merge into Black Metal?[edit]

Someone has suggested that the faggoth page be merged into the page for black metal. If this is done, I suggest that we also merge the page for norsecore into BM. But I dunno... opinions? SpectrumDT 01:30, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there a Wikipedia article on a term that can only be referenced to a random, frequently inaccurate, internet rant? Everything about the term sounds like the product of kvlt IRC chatrooms. Irrelevant to black metal, irrelevant in general.

I would delete according to Wikipedia:Deletion policy non-notability or maybe "Completely idiosyncratic non-topic" Jackliddle 19:18, 4 August 2005 (UTC). I've put up we'll let the Wiki decide.[reply]

I agree with Jackliddle that this article is completely irrelevent and a non-topic, it should be deleted and certainly not folded into the black metal article.

If it must remain live, then I also think it is very NPOV. The opening sentence, especially. "Faggoth supposedly sounds similar to black metal" -- how is that neutral speech? It is not at all. As a fan of black metal (and not of any of the bands listed on this page, who are hardly considered black metal), I'm almost offended by this article's mere existence. What would the point be of folding in an almost unused, derogatory slur as more than simply a one line addition into the black metal page? seeminglysatanic

Poll[edit]

How many people actually use this term? I mean, I could make up my own term in some internet posting too, and it still wouldn't matter to other people. There are enough idiotic terms that only mean something to a few people without our sponsoring them. I mean, webcest has a better claim to notability, and it got deleted. The place for this "word" is UrbanDictionary, if there. It can be noted in the black metal article that the bands listed below are described as too pop-oriented for some "true black metallers," but the majority of this article, and its scarcely-referenced title, don't need to be transferred. If it actually comes into usage some day, I suppose we could restore the article.

Let's have an informal poll. Who has heard this term used in conversation, but not in reference to the article by "Falconsbane"? I hadn't.

Merge and redirrect[edit]

Consensus from Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/Faggoth and the discussion here appears to be that this term should be merged with Black metal. So I've now done that, this article will now redirrect to the Black metal article, where the content can be found. Brendanfox 23:59, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
