Defining Black SciFi[edit]

It seems to me that this is not something that should be defined as much as just acknowledged. So instead of a redirect to Afrofuturism I think that it is better to list the many ways that black people are in the genre. - Booksellergirl (talk) 14:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just noticed Black Science Fiction redirect to Afrofuturism. Change redirect to it goes to Black science fiction instead?

21st Century?[edit]

Should there be a section on what types of black science fiction have emerged in the last 20 years? For example, the antho Octavia's Brood reflects a new editorial politic that builds more on Octavia Butler's idea of visionary fiction than on Afrofuturism. Also, Linda Addison's How to Recognize a Demon Has Become Your Friend won the Bram Stoker Award in 2006, and is a solid re-imagining of the present vs the emphasis on futurity you see in classic Afrofuturism.
