Do we know the date of first flight? Drutt (talk) 12:56, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stupid question...[edit]

...but how the jiminy did it end up being called the Blackburn Blackburn? Whose choice was that? What did crews etc. call the thing when in service?

Number built[edit]

The infobox claims 44 were built, but the article body claims there were three prototypes, 33 of the Mk.I and 29 of the Mk.II. That gives a total of 65. 2A02:C7F:2CC5:5A00:A071:22CB:DCF3:5068 (talk) 19:22, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jackson's Blackburn Aircraft since 1909 (pp. 168–169) gives three Mark I prototypes and 30 production Mark Is. The Mark II prototype was a conversion of the first Mark I prototype and this was followed by 29 production Mk IIs (a total of 62 aircraft). Jackson also notes (p. 164) that "many [Mk Is] eventually returned to Brough to be modified up to Mk II standard".Nigel Ish (talk) 22:50, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
