It is a hard water area which is susceptible to eutrophication with transient stratification in the summer. As a result, a research programme has been established to observe and measure the limnology of This is very jargony even though you've linked all the main terms. Can you rewrite this a little more simply while keeping the links for readers who want to investigate further?

  - Here's my attempt. Note that I'm not sure that an algal bloom is what actually happens, but it is a bit more familiar to the average reader than phytoplankton buildup. And how important is the stratification? "It is a [[hard water area]] with high mineral content that is vulnerable to [[eutrophication]] in the summer, that can cause [[algal bloom]]s, with transient [[Stratification (water)|water layers]]."
