Advertising hoardings

List of Applications

The 10th bullet under List of Applications says the following:

Sending small advertisements from Bluetooth-enabled advertising hoardings to other, discoverable, Bluetooth devices.

(My emphasis.)

The term "advertising hoardings" isn't a universal English term. I personally had never even seen the term before I read it here! I had to look it up, on Wikipedia of course. (Billboard | Advertising board)

I'd like to suggest it be changed to a more universal term, but I'm not sure what is should be changed to. Is the word billboard acceptable? Is billboard used universally? Is that even what the term means here?

I realize that there are many different terms in the different "dialects" of English, and I'm not suggesting this change from any sort of myopic, nationalist viewpoint, so please don't accuse me of such. I simply believe that, whenever possible, terms that are universal to all forms of English should be used and I'm not sure if billboard is such a term. Therefore, I welcome your comments.
