BOB BYMAN

Bob Byman (born April 21, 1955) is currently the Director of Instruction at the Legacy Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada. His experience and expertise in the golf has been forged by over 40 years of competition and over 20 years of teaching and coaching. There are but a handful of people in the world that combine this resume with a passion and love in helping other achieve their golf goals.

Early Life

Bob Byman was born in Poughkeepsie, New York and later lived in Kingston, New York and Boulder, Colorado. As a boy in a sports minded family, he played grade, junior or high school baseball, basketball, football, track and field, wrestling and golf. I played hockey, pool, ping pong and bowling for fun. Growing up in New York and Colorado allowed for seasonal sports participation. Even though sports were greatly important to him and his family, he was expected to excel at school as well. He finished in the top 5 in my class at Fairview High School with a 3.92 grade point average.

Amateur and Professional achievements

Byman won 3 straight Colorado State Amateur titles and the US Junior Championship as a younger golfer. He attended Wake Forest University on an Arnold Palmer Scholarship and won two NCAA Team Championships in 1974 and 1975. Along with Curtis Strange, Jay Haas and David Thore they made up what is still recognized as the “best college golf team ever”. Byman has won 5 National Opens (4 on European Tour and The New Zealand Open) and the 1979 Bayhill Classic as a professional. His best finish in a major was the 1979 British Open where he finished T7. Philosophy

Byman says, “I offer the most effective golf instruction in the world. Based on my over 40 years of competitive experience coupled with over 23 years of teaching and coaching golf, I can offer all of my students the path of least resistance toward optimizing all of their golf skills. Everyone brings their own system (generally greatly out of balance) of swinging the club and playing the game. We work together to bring that system into balance by feeding in time tested fundamentals. We build a new system that is in balance starting with the most basic aspects of the grip and starting position that will produce powerful, accurate, reliable and repeatable results.

Look for the Bob Byman You Tube Instructional Series coming soon. Bob is a cohost on KLAV AM 1230 Tuesdays at 4:00 pm on Golf Talk Las Vegas presented by Golf Today Magazine. He is a Senior contributing columnist for the Las Vegas addition of Golf Today Magazine. His new ebook, The Absolute Best Grip in the World, that will be available soon. “It raises the bar of golf instruction and knowledge allowing all those who wish to improve and optimize their golf skills to do so.
