About disambiguation pages[edit]

The point of a disambiguation page is not to list every possible definition or use of a particular word, nor is a disambiguation page meant to impart information or to provide definitions for words; disambiguation pages are meant to assist a Wikipedia user in finding an existing page whose topic is (or could also be) the actual word used in their search query.

Before adding a topic to this page, ask yourself:

  • If you were looking for this topic on Wikipedia, would you simply and only type "Bodega" as your search word?
  • Is there a significant number of people who refer to the topic of the article by only using the word "Bodega"?

Please see Wikipedia:Disambiguation and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages) for more info.

The vast majority of what was on this disambiguation page did not belong and has been removed. I almost considered nominating this disambiguation page for deletion, since truly there is currently only one Wikipedia article about the topic "Bodega", that article being about the city of Bodega in California. However I also recognised that some Americans who may be looking for info on convenience stores might search using the word "bodega" if it is the term that they are most familiar with. In addition, convenience store already has a small blurb about the term "bodega." I considered moving the other info about bodegas from this page to convenience store, but since there are no citations and since this info was created by many users over time I didn't bother. In the future someone might consider creating an article specifically on bodega convenience stores and then add a link to this page in place of convenience store. But, as I take it, you did not think that anyone could be looking for any information related to wine in an entry on bodega, since you removed those references despite it being tagged on this page? If the text on the dab page disturbed you enough for you to remoive it, you didn't consider making it e.g. a stub under Bodega (wine) instead? I consider your edits in this regard distinctly unhelpful. Tomas e (talk) 18:27, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please remember that we're not all Americans here. When I looked up "Bodega", I expected to find something like winery or a wine bar. I think this is the main use of the word in many European countries. I had never heard of the city of Bodega. – Danmichaelo (talk) 13:37, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This page should be moved to bodega (disambiguation)[edit]

The most common usage of the term is bodega (store) by Google results, and we don't appear to have a separate article on the wine usage, so that article should be moved here. Andre🚐 03:30, 18 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To the extent that the wine usage appears in English or otherwise in the names of at European drinking establishments outside of Spain, it seems to be for a sort of cantina anyway, not really a wine cellar as is used in Spanish. Pharos (talk) 17:01, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
