IL-24[edit]

The plane type quoted in the article as bombing Tallinn, as far as I know never actually flew; its development had started after WWII and abandoned. Dimawik (talk) 08:19, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now that the clearly erroneous IL-24 reference was deleted, it makes sense to check the other facts in the same paragraph (from "official report"). It seems that this is just a copy of some wartime material, either German or Estonian. Dimawik (talk) 17:11, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for bombing[edit]

Unfortunately this can be done only through indirect sources as the official Soviet position was the bombing did not happen and Russian archives are closed for Western researchers. However, the 1944 section of the article currently states: "Regarding the high number of civilian casualties and low damage to military and strategic installations in the cities, the Soviet bombing raids were conducted primarily in order to destroy the morale of local civilians opposed to a return of Soviet occupation forces.[2][4][5]" You are welcome to pick up the sources and elaborate on that.
