Untitled[edit]

Well thats kinda aggravating. I noticed that way back in May someone removed the statement that Yurts are available for camping at Bon Echo, just because they didn't know. Obviously they did not look it up. If you just did a google for Bon Echo Yurt you would have found a straight reference immediately: Bon Echo Provincial Park. In future, verify BEFORE deleting and expand information instead of just dismissing it because you don't know. Wow... can we have some accuracy?[edit]

Walt Whitman DIED in 1892... he never visited Bon Echo... the Inn did not exist then. I need to gather more info on Thurber, but so far I can't find anything specific about him being there when Flora Mac ran the park. I am trying to make the history of the park actually factual instead of fanciful... although sources are difficult to come by, it isn't impossible. If you have evidence about particular personages visiting the park/Inn, then cite sources please.--CokeBear 15:11, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for some of the inaccuracies. When I started adding information, there was almost nothing on the page except for camping info, and the place deserves more historical perspective. The history section was worked on with the understanding that it would be collaberatively expanded, and I'm happy to see that the depth of information is growing. I and my family are planning another trip there this summer (our sixth trip there - we stay at a cabin on Sounth Mazinaw named 'Merril Lea') and I'm making it a point to gather more hard facts this trip to expand history there. BTW, Thurber did stay there, the fact obtained from displayed info on the Narrows itself. I'll have to dig up the picture I took of the placard the info was on. -- Xinpheld 16:27, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to try to contact the "Friends of Bon Echo" group that supports the park and it's heritage. The friends of Bon Echo website is: http://www.mazinaw.on.ca/fobecho/index.html. There are also a couple homes on the park property which people have lived in for years, maybe even generations. There was also a documentary put on a while back by Ontario Parks and there was a piece on it about Bon Echo. I appreciate your efforts to get the right information.
