REMOVED MAP[edit]

I removed the map because it showed not Halton but a district in south Lancs near Sefton MDC. 79.72.13.147 (talk) 09:35, 1 April 2009 (UTC) Tony S[reply]

Project concerning Cheshire[edit]

Myself and a group of others have just begun to set up a project which aims to improve all wikipedia articles concerned with Cheshire. Halton Borough being part of the Ceremonial county of Cheshire, is part of that. The fine details of the Cheshire Wikiproject are being specified in more details now. We invite anyone who is reading this and interested in it to join. Our overall aim is get all articles that are relevant to Cheshire into Featured Articles, as well as expanding the coverage wikipedia has of all aspects of Cheshire. Please feel free to add your name to the list of participants to the project where indicated, and, especially, to join in in specifying the developing the specific delatils of the project on its talk page. Please also consider adding both the project page and its talk page to your watchlist.  DDStretch  (talk) 12:30, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Liverpool City Region?[edit]

A category has been added that places Halton into Liverpool City Region. Is this a good thing, does have any kind of validity (and more importantly, verification) or does it give a mistaken view of the borough?  DDStretch  (talk) 17:32, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can't say I am aware of such a thing as a "Liverpool City Region", although it may have happened I suppose. The Widnes councillors seem keen to make Halton part of Merseyside/Liverpool, although the Runcorn councillors are anything but keen (the folly of making Runcorn and Widnes into a unitary authority!?). So far as I know, Halton is still in Cheshire but with change after change I suppose it could be part of Liverpool/Merseyside sooner or later. (I suspect that this comment is not helpful!) Peter I. Vardy (talk) 18:25, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Have a look at Greater Merseyside.--Kitchen Knife (talk) 19:12, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Greater Merseyside (which is unreferenced) confirms that "Liverpool City Region" does not exist; it is just a dream in the eyes of some politician(s). It might or might not sometime or other and may or may not include Lancashire and Cheshire! "Could be" is not good enough for an encyclopaedia. If it happens, it should be recorded. It has not happened, so the category has been deleted. Peter I. Vardy (talk) 20:49, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is good enough if it is described as something that might be. I reinstate.--Kitchen Knife (talk) 21:31, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies! I should have Googled it first. Peter I. Vardy (talk) 15:58, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. It could be added, but I wonder just how useful this category is likely to be, particularly as it doesn't yet seem to include all the districts it should for the core region? There is also a wider set of districts, such as Chester (district), and various areas in Wales. I can imagine the possible inclusion of these being less easy to persuade people.  DDStretch  (talk) 17:53, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Temporarily fully-protected the page[edit]

To avoid a resumption of the edit-warring disruption by an editor who has repeatedly changed the name of the borough in the info-box to just "Halton", I've fully-protected the page for 48 hours. That's 24 hours longer than the block I've imposed on him/her for the disruption. I hope that calms things down. If it doesn't, I'll just impose longer blocks.  DDStretch  (talk) 11:04, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
