Date[edit]

Using the foliage on the leaves as well as the angle of the shadows, the date of this photograph has been placed between 24 April and 4 May. Daguerre's Diorama burned down in March 1839 and Samuel Morse saw the photograph in the same month, therefore it is not possible that it was taken in 1839.
