Frequency?[edit]

Frequency: "4 cases (2017)" is wholly misleading, and contrary to the table showing European case numbers on the same page. This should be revised, or deleted.

This is one of the most popular pages in Wikipedia:WikiProject Veterinary medicine's scope. Very few editors watch WT:VET's pages, which means that questions may not be answered in a timely manner. Oppose, the present name is appropriate to the formal scholarly language of an encyclopaedia. Also no evidence provided that this is the common name. A quick search on Google Scholar gives:

"Bovine spongiform encephalopathy", about 45,200 results

"mad cow disease", about 36,800.

Oppose It certainly isn't the common name in the reliable sources. A quick Pubmed search reveals 284 results for mad cow disease vs 2,456 results for bovine spongiform encephalopathy. --GGT (talk) 15:05, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
