Just another name for Brabant Lake?[edit]

The Wikipedia article for Brabant Lake, Saskatchewan has about the same coordinates as Brabant. I'm guessing that this article should be replaced with a redirect, but am unsure. Peter Gulutzan (talk) 22:33, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely Brabant Lake in all official and commercial online sources. Google maps shows only the town of Brabant Lake in the vicinity. There may be some confusion locally, though. I spoke to someone in charge at the local resort, and he initially told me quite clearly that the town was called Brabant (pronounced BRAY-bant, incidentally, unlike the original Dutch name) and the lake was called Brabant Lake. When I restated the question to definitively clarify the point, he seemed momentarily unsure, then said, somewhat hesitantly, "We usually call it Brabant Lake." That statement was almost a mirror image of his initial, firm answer. Might it be that local people are colloquially calling it "Brabant", with some then mistaking that for its official name? Thank you. It at least seems clear that there are not two communities, one called Brabant and the other called Brabant Lake. Therefore there should not be two Wikipedia community-in-Saskatchewan articles. I will redirect. Peter Gulutzan (talk)
Very good. Heavenlyblue (talk) 03:04, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
