Conflict of interest

Written to update current information on Brammo Inc, and to consolidate this with the Brammo Motorsports page. As I noted on my user page, I wrote the article at the request of Brammo and am being compensated for my time in research and writing, I am aware of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines and I will abide by them. My aim is to provide neutral information and I understand that any parts of the article may be subject to deletion, editing, etc., if they do not adhere to Wikipedia's policies. Prior to Brammo's request of me to update their existing articles, I was familiar with the electric motorcycle industry as a whole, and Brammo's contribution to the industry in particular, because I am concerned about environmental issues and see electric vehicles as one of many possible solutions. I noticed that, as Brammo was headed toward the release of its product, its current pages on Wikipedia were outdated and contained incomplete and sometimes incorrect information. Craig Bramscher does not appear to be notable enough to merit his own article, thus:

• Support merge until such time as Bramscher is notable enough for his own article. Katr67 (talk) 22:24, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
• Oppose merge. I added his own page because, in my opinion, his notability is a matter of time, and may just be a few weeks. I planned to add to the article, but haven't gotten to it just yet. Granted, I'm a newcomer as an editor here, and every day I learn more and more about the guidelines, but given the number of articles in major newspapers about him and/or his company, he's arguable on the "cusp" of notability. • Support merge. There is no obvious reason why the page Craig Bramscher should exist as a separate article; his notability is derived from interest in his company, not in him. Articles about Brammo justify the existence of the article Brammo, not Craig Bramscher. If in the future more material appears that makes it obvious an article about this person is needed, it is trivially easy to remove the redirect and expand the article again. --Dbratland (talk) 20:35, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Empulse debut

Debut of Empulse, Empulse R production motorcycles
In May 2012, Brammo revealed the production versions of its Empulse and Empulse R electric motorcycles. According to CEO Bramscher, the Empulse was designed to be "the first viable motorcycle that just happens to be electric." The Empulse was priced at $16,995 — $3,000 more than announced two years ago. The Empulse R, a version with upgraded suspension and carbon fiber details, costs $18,995. The price increase over the amount announced in 2010 was explained, in part, due to the addition of a six-speed transmission following its partnership with SMRE.

I deleted this addition because, primarily, WP:CRYSTAL says "Wikipedia is not a collection of product announcements and rumors. [...] Speculation and rumor, even from reliable sources, are not appropriate encyclopedic content." Yes, many reliable sources covered the big show, but the bikes have not been delivered, and Brammo has a history of not delivering on their promises. The whole electric vehicle industry is plagued with broken promises. Like the film industry, there's always something awesome in development with a promised date, but then the date always slips, and often nothing is delivered. It's even worse in that these companies routinely pre-sell vehicles for thousands of dollars, even tens of thousands, or more. So common sense tells us that any statement, from anybody about a future electric vehicle is always "speculation and rumor", not fact.

Even if we were talking about a more stable, conservative industry that always delivered on their announced products, Wikipedia's policy says either don't mention it, or keep it at a minimum. Since it's an electric vehicle, I say don't even mention it until it ships. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 17:38, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

You say "don't even mention it until it ships", then revert in its entirety the edit mentioning the bike shipping. I have no interest in engaging in an edit war, but the fact that the bike is shipping after numerous delays seems noteworthy to me. COI issues again

This has become a really high-maintenance article because it is the sole focus of an SPA who is paid to publicize Brammo, perpetually toeing the line on the WP:COI guidelines. So once again it has fallen into a state where it is a chronicle of one Brammo press release after another, following every detail of the company's movements without regard to whether these events were covered in high-quality sources. Needs cleanup again. Need to review each of these COI-written sections to verify that negative information hasn't been scrubbed. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 18:16, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

You removed the "Debut of Empulse" section and said, "Since it's an electric vehicle, I say don't even mention it until it ships." I agreed and waited until an article (not a press release) announced the shipment (specifically, the delivery of the bike to an arms-length third party buyer). Thus, today's edit. I sincerely try to avoid quoting press releases. I do end up quoting some of the same reporters because, currently, there are only a few who cover this niche market.
