So does anyone know who the magician was in number 5?

There's no way that's Val Valentino in the new series... unless he's started drinking heavily. His sleight of hand has got significantly worse, and he seems to be a different shape, and move in a different way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 135.196.223.13 (talk) 20:27, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the performance is very poor. I'd say infact that its every trick which is not done to a decent standard. Often the magician or one of the assistants will blatantly give away the secret of the trick. Like that trick with the floating lamps where we could see the rod holding them up.

I think the main reason is that Valentino hasn't been performing these tricks for years, but has only learnt them for the sake of revealing thier secrets. So his performance is that of a beginner. Furthermore, I dont think they can be bothered to re-shoot an entire performance of a trick for some reason.

Original series was definately better. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.210.64.214 (talk) 02:21, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can't get the references section to the bottom of the article. Can someone help? --203.198.231.135 (talk) 04:06, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not really Valentino in the mask?[edit]

The "unmasking" scene was highly unconvincing. At least in the version transmitted in the UK, the image dissolves from the guy in the mask to the unmasked Valentino. You never actually get to see Valentino remove the mask! Furthermore, it appears that Valentino is not even in the same location as the masked man. Therefore I can only conclude that the "unmasking" of the Masked Magician was itself an illusion, and an uncharacteristically bad one. Lee M (talk) 02:58, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think the final scene, where Val Valentino is unmasked and speaking as himself, was probably shot separately. Maybe it was a last minute thing, and maybe he decided to unmask only after everything else had been shot. Obviously they set it up to appear to be in the style of a trick or illusion. As he himself said, it's all about the performance. I think it's been pretty well established that it's actually Valentino in the mask, at least for the first 4 episodes

Split?[edit]

I think the episode section should be split into a new article because the section is long enough to merit it's own article.71.162.100.242 (talk) 05:55, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reactions section needed[edit]

This article badly needs a section presenting reactions from working magicians and magicians' organizations. Do they actually care? David Spector (talk) 12:53, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

All Assistants Listed[edit]

According to this article the assistants all have been named. Furthermore, I just watched 3 episodes this week, and all the assistants were definitely named in the closing credits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.39.192.122 (talk) 15:05, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

> Are we listing assistants by closing credits? S1E4 shows closing credits for assistants like Marisa Gilliam, Kelly Daniel Jones, Michelle Berube, Diane Kilmeszewski that are missing in the Wikipedia page. 71.127.152.190 (talk) 03:45, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

magicians[edit]

How do magicians perform there tricks and so called magic ...? Or is it just special effects and editing ...?? Mun69chies (talk) 22:09, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New trick?[edit]

Does anyone know if this recently uploaded trick has, if at all, appeared in ANY of the episodes originally? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UvIkhW75cg Visokor (talk) 09:02, 4 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merger[edit]

Val Valentino is known only for this special series, and his article is primarily talking about the special and the fallout from the special. It would make more sense to merge them into one article. Val has had no career outside the show, and thus lacks sustained interest. Harizotoh9 (talk) 00:38, 16 April 2020 (UTC) No. It is not a good idea. Biographies should be seperate from TV show articles.AceLuan54 (talk) 13:11, 19 September 2020 (UTC)AceLuan54[reply]
